| Crosthwaite Church Organ |

Organ was built in London by Bishop and transported by sea along the south and west coasts. It was nearly lost in a storm in Liverpool bay but eventually reached Whitehaven and was brought by horses and carts to Keswick, where it was installed in the west gallery of the church. It had two manuals, no pedal section and 18 stops (of which several remain to this day).
| 1866-7 | The organ was rebuilt in the west gallery above the present choir seats by F W Jardine of Manchester, a pupil of Bishop. It was enlarged to three manuals and pedals : 31 stops. |
The Gallery was removed and the organ rebuilt across the west end, behind the choir, by Thorold & Smith with 3 manuals and pedals : 41 stops.
Organ rebuilt and enlarged by Jardine of Manchester . The case was divided into two sections, north and south sides of the west end above the choir: Swell and some Great and most of the pedal stops on the south side; and Choir and most of Great and some pedal on the north side. The tracker action was replaced by electro-pneumatic and the console was detached below the north side case.
General cleaning and repairs to the action by Jardine.
Overhaul and tonal changes by Rushworth & Dreaper, eg Oboe d'Amore replaced by Larigot on Choir.
Console moved to present position at southwest corner of main congregational seating; stop action fully electrified and console rewired and piston-setter board fitted under music desk. Pendlebury of Cleveleys, Lancashire.
Electro-pneumatic action replaced by solid-state electric in all departments except the distant pedal pipes. Pipes cleaned and repaired; Swell reeds revoiced and wind-pressures reduced. Soundboards cleaned. Tonal alterations: Great and Swell Mixtures remodelled; Swell Twelfth tamed; Choir Clarinet returned to 8ft pitch. An attempt to reposition the Great/Choir Tromba to a higher level to make access to the Great pipework easier was abandoned because of insufficient space. Pendlebury.
Further improvements were made by Pendlebury's: bottom octave of Gt. Diapasons (display pipes) electrified; concussion bellows fitted to Swell and Choir; Choir Larigot changed to Tierce.
