Calder
House Pup Night
Saturday
19 May 2012
Calder
House Hotel, Seascale, Cumbria
CANCELLED DUE TO INSUFFICIENT RESPONSE
Many
apologies to those who booked and will be as disappointed as the organisers
Pup
Night is an opportunity for pups to
meet and play together in gear. The
event is primarily for rubber pups, leather pups, or furry pups, and of course
their handlers / owners, but is also open to anyone in the same kind of gear
who feels a close enough affinity to that group.
The
event is being held at the Calder House Hotel in Seascale on the west coast
of Cumbria. It’s a small, comfortable, privately owned and recently refurbished
hotel.
The
owners, Steve and Andy, will close the hotel to all other guests making this an
exclusive event. That means we can happily wander around in gear between the
function rooms and bedrooms without being disturbed and, perhaps more to the point,
without disturbing anyone else! I can promise you Steve and Andy are
unshockable and are looking forward to participating fully in the event!
There
will be some bondage equipment available in the main function room and (possibly)
in a smaller, more intimate, room. We should have (at least) two cages, a rope
bench and an interrogation chair.
We
are also hoping that Into-Latex from Manchester will be there with a selection
of their products. There probably won’t be a big stock for sale on the night,
but at least you will be able to see and try, and perhaps discuss ideas for new
products or custom work.
For
those who fancy late night walkies, there is a wonderful beach only a few
minutes away, accessible via a footpath directly from the back of the hotel.
Seasacle
is close to Wasdale, the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and Muncaster Castle, any of which could be visited before you
check-in on Saturday or on the way home on Sunday. The gardens at the castle
will be at their best in May.
Rooms and Prices
The
hotel has 9 double rooms, 5 twin rooms and 1 single room. There is also an
annex with a further 4 doubles and 2 singles. The annex is only a few metre

Booking
This
is a new venture and we aren’t sure what the response will be like. You will
appreciate the hotel is taking a commercial risk by making this an exclusive
night, so we do really need to keep the option open to cancel if there is
insufficient interest. For this reason we have set an early closing date for
registration. Provided the numbers are sufficient on this date, we can of
course accept more up to the maximum capacity of the hotel.
The
CLOSING DATE for registration is THURSDAY 1 MARCH. We will need around
30 to ensure the event can go ahead, and the maximum capacity is about 40 so
please book early to avoid disappointment!
Please
book directly with the hotel. You can
email them at stay@calderhouse.co.uk or phone 019467
28538 and ask to speak to Steve or Andy.
Please
make sure you provide your name(s), the name(s) you wish to be known by at the
event and contact details. You don’t need to pay at the time of registration -
once we know the event is safe, we will contact you to request payment.
THIS BIT IS
IMPORTANT
- To identify yourself as an attendee you must quote the reference “TOP DOG” in
any email or phone conversation. Otherwise you will be told the hotel is closed
that day.
Of
course, we would be delighted if you would like to stay over on Sunday to
explore the western Lake District and local attractions. The same room tariffs
would apply.
Directions
By car:
Nearly
everyone has SatNav nowadays so we won’t provide detailed directions here. They
are available on the hotel website. The post code is CA20 1QP.
By
train:
There
is a station in Seascale only a short walk from the hotel but be aware there
are no trains on Sunday. You would need to find alternative transport to
Whitehaven or stay until Monday. Also, Seascale is a request stop - make sure
the conductor knows you want to get off there when they check your ticket.
